Staying Safe While Shooting Extreme Sports
Extreme sports photography is thrilling, but safety should always be a top priority. Whether you're shooting from the edge of a cliff or in the middle of a skate park, you need to be aware of the risks involved.
Assessing the Location
Before setting up for a shoot, assess the area for potential hazards. Whether it’s unstable terrain during a rock climbing event or heavy surf while shooting surfers, knowing the risks ahead of time can keep you out of danger.
Staying Out of the Athlete’s Path
Always ensure that you’re not in the athlete’s line of movement. Respect the sport and its space to avoid collisions or ruining an epic shot. A good zoom lens will help you keep a safe distance while still getting close-up action.
